This book is a condensed version of Bob Jennings’ full commentary on Romans, focusing on chapters 1 to 8. Bob wrote this commentary in the 1990s while preaching through Romans at Highway M Chapel in Sedalia, Missouri. Typically, he preached from bullet-pointed sermon outlines, but as he worked through Romans, he took the unusual step of typing out his messages afterward. His original intent was for this to be a book for his five children. After his passing from cancer in 2012, we compiled his writings into book form.
Who should read this book? This is an ideal resource for new believers seeking a clear understanding of the greatest letter Paul ever wrote. While preachers may find it helpful, it is not an academic commentary that analyzes differing views. Bob himself humbly stated, “Others have written better.” Yet, his straightforward style and simple illustrations make this a book that magnifies the greatness of the Gospel of Christ.
About the author: Bob Jennings began pastoral ministry in Kirksville, Missouri, in 1978 at what is now Lake Road Chapel. In 1983, he moved to Sedalia to shepherd a small congregation that would become Faith Fellowship. He and his wife, Terri, were blessed with five children. Known for his godliness and faithfulness, Bob went to be with the Lord in November 2012 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
