“Taken or Left” is a touching story that follows the life of Peter, a young boy in a large family. His mother, overwhelmed with the responsibilities of raising ten boys and a daughter named Salome, struggles to find joy amidst her duties. The narrative begins with Peter’s devotion to his little sister, Salome, who becomes his closest friend. As they grow, Peter faces a moral dilemma when he loses a shilling and deceitfully replaces it with one found in his father’s till. The guilt of his dishonesty weighs heavily on him, especially after a sermon about the second coming of Jesus makes him realize he will not be taken but will be left!
